All Over the World: Alaska

Arctic Barnabas Ministries

Website:  arcticbarnabas.org

In this All Over the World episode, we venture into the snow and ice of Alaska to be with Arctic Barnabas Ministries. They take us along for a cold and crazy ride, as we help out with their women’s retreat and get our hands dirty with their construction team. We also tread the arctic circle to take a missionary’s son on his first flight lesson for his 13th birthday.

Additional Scenes: AOTW Alaska

Arctic Barnabas Ministries

Enjoy one of our “Deleted Scenes” from All Over the World: Alaska.  This is a roughly edited cut of our interview with the McElwee family, who you will see if you watch the full All Over the World episode from Alaska.  The McElwees uprooted from their comfortable lifestyle in Texas to follow God’s calling for them to love the people in White Mountain, Alaska.

Additional Scenes:  AOTW Alaska

Arctic Barnabas Ministries

This is another “Additional Scene” from All Over the World: Alaska.  While filming in White Mountain, Alaska (near the arctic circle) we ran into Helen.  She shared with us from a passage Ephesians. She recites this passage (Ephesians 6:10-18) each morning before she begins her day. And even though it was about -15 degrees (-30 with the wind chill), that didn’t stop her from reciting it to encourage us as we were about to attempt to take off before a snow storm hit. God is doing great things in Alaska and has more in store, especially for the little village of White Mountain.

Christmas With World Relief Jacksonville

World Relief Jacksonville and Mandarin Presbyterian Church

Website:  worldreliefjacksonville.org

World Relief Jacksonville’s has a mission to empower the local church to serve the most vulnerable, particularly refugees. World Relief helps refugees by providing for their initial housing needs, offering English classes, arranging initial medical care and immunizations, partnering with community volunteers and churches, and providing orientation to American culture.

On Christmas Day in 2011, Lantern Vision went along with a youth group from Mandarin Presbyterian Church to bring some Christmas cheer to these refugees. Some had never even experienced Christmas before. As you watch this video, remember it doesn’t have to be Christmas to share the hope of Christ with someone. Also consider how you might partner with World Relief or get involved with Mandarin Presbyterian Church in their vision to help the most vulnerable.
